So you are thinking about getting started with snow boarding and before you do you think that you will need to get to grip with the costs first. This is very sensible and is certainly something that I would recommend to anyone. If you cannot afford to get started then why try? However, I am sure that you will be pleasantly surprised to find out the kind of money that you are going to have to spend to get started. What would you say if I got lessons and on the slopes for the first time for well under $100! Yes folks, it really is that cheap, and it really is that easy. When I first got started, I stopped to consider if I would be able to afford it, and I phoned up my local slope that were really helpful in giving me an idea of all the cost that would be involved.

They firstly said that they recommend that I book up a block of 10 lessons in order to get started, but they explained that 3 would be enough. I guessed that they probably wanted me to pay more, so I decided to go for just the 3 lessons and this worked out just enough to give me the confidence to hit the slopes on my own. The fact is that the lessons cost $10 each, but it worked out a lot cheaper, because I decided to go for group lessons. This meant that when I was getting taught, I was actually getting taught with others. However this actually worked out to be better than I had imagined. It actually meant that I made some friends with which to spend some time with at the slopes, and that I now go along with every Wednesday night. It is ideal, and that is why it is maybe even better to do it on a budget!

Now the next thing that you are probably worried about is the cost that is associated with getting equipment and things like that sorted out. It may be expensive if you are wanting to go out their and get top of the range equipment, but it is just as easy and just as quick to rent out every time you go their. At my local slope, they charge the same amount for an hour on the slope whether or not you rent out equipment or not! That is why it is simply not expensive to get started, all I spent was $30 to get lessons, and I got a shot on the slope included in the price. What I would say is that if you can afford to go to the pub or go on holiday then you can certainly afford to the initial snow boarding costs.

This really is not that expensive and that is why I have to say that it is a great sport to get started in, regardless of your age. It is a good way to make friends, have fun and learn something new.

One cost that I forgot to mention is that I had to buy gloves. Buying gloves is simply a must, and they should be water proof gloves. If they are not water proof then you will end up with cold hands, and you will not enjoy your day out quite as much.

The problem started when my daughter took a break from her homework to eat dinner. She asked me if she could take it in her room and work on it while watching TV.

(Not a good idea, BTW). Even the best of us moms have our weak moments. :o)

Anyhow, by the time dinner was over, there was no homework to be found.

As with all lost items, I suggested the usual mom replies. "Retrace your steps." "Think, where was the last place you wrote an answer down on it."

She spent 15 minutes of looking, another 10 minutes of tears for fear of getting detention, during her first week of middle school, (for not turning in homework.) All the tears and whining in frustration were followed with another 10 minutes of both of us looking, and still no homework.

Can you relate?

I bet as a mom, you have probably, been there, done that, if not with homework, with a child's shoes, your car keys. etc.....

I had recently been reading and studying up on manifesting your life, and creating the life you want by projecting a positive attitude, following your intuition. I had been real motivated and psyched with what I was learning.

"Okay mom, I thought to myself," "now you can put all this philosophy to the test."

I said,

"Let's kneel down on the floor right now, and ask God to help us find your homework." She started to giggle as if to say, but she knew not to dare say it out loud, "Yeah right, Mom!"

We knelt down and I lead her in a short but to the point prayer. Although small in time, it was still filled with gratitude but we did request immediate help to find her homework.

I can see some of you laughing at me, as this story unfolds.

As soon as we were done, I stood up. I told her to take a deep breath and relax. I did the same. Then I went to the kitchen. I thought to myself, "maybe she was still hungry and brought the homework out here while looking for something else to eat."

I started to walk to the refrigerator. :o) Well who knows, it could have been in there. But before I even got that far, I glanced over to the counter, and there sat her homework packet, on top of the toaster.

I picked it up and took it back to the living room. Now remember, I told her to take a deep breath and relax. She wasn't even through relaxing and I had already found her homework.

Needless to say, my daughter had a hard time believing that I hadn't known it was there all along.

She did know that though, because she had heard my anguish and frustration just minutes earlier with her misplacing it.

Was it just coincidence? Did I just get lucky?

I believe we create our own luck. I have been studying hard lately to eliminate negative thoughts and replace them with power affirming thoughts instead.

I believe God did just what I asked him too. It was my intuition that led me to the kitchen with the thought about her maybe being hungry. The fact that she might have been looking for food when she set down her homework led me straight to the toaster.

In my humble opinion, it was God who planted those thoughts into my mind, because we asked him for some help. When He answers us so quickly, it is really almost impossible not to believe and have faith.

If it was only that easy to have the same type of faith if we were to ask to win the lottery, (which I don't feel is really an appropriate prayer, however). To believe that he could remove all thought, or doubt in our minds that we wouldn't, it might just happen too.

How many of you can honestly say, when you buy a lottery ticket, it is an absolute winner, that you have not one flickering of a doubt that you will have the winning numbers? You would have to have miraculous faith to do this.

You can't really, because it is next to impossible for the human mind, knowing the odds of actually winning, to eliminate all traces of doubt in that particular scenerio. Some of those thoughts are buried so deep in your subconscious that you are not even aware of them.

In contrast though, it was fairly easy for me to have faith that God could help me find my daughter's homework, because I knew it hadn’t grown feet and walked out the door. :o)

Successful living is no accident. If you're not on your toes, you can lose it all before you know it. One common thing that those who start to make progress do it to start to let it roll, sit back and take it easy. After all, they are in need of some well deserved R&R - right?!

Well, before you start planning your extravagant and luxurious vacation, let me warn you that the disease of complacency is a threat to the newly successful life.

We see it every day whether we know it or not. For example, if you've ever watched a game - could be basketball, football, baseball or whatever your favorite sport is - and your team is ahead. It looks like they're going to take the big 'W'. There's no doubt they are going to Win!

Then it happens. They get complacent. This complacency is an easy target for the underdog team. The losing team can quickly turn the game around by taking advantage of the winning team's new laid-back style of play.

Before you know it, the once winning team find themselves fighting to either stay ahead or trying to get the lead back. You see, the opposite of complacency is momentum. The losing team knows that. If you lose your momentum - or voluntarily give it up - you'll likely find yourself fighting to win.

Here are three strategies that will insure you do not lose your momentum:

1. Seek and Find
When you feel like you're winning go play 'Seek and Find'. What this means is go seek someone who you know is doing even better than you. Then find out what their strengths are that keeps them at the top of their game. Warning: Do not let your pride get in the way. This can be a healthy and very rewarding practice if you use it.

2. Unlock the Unused and Available
There's a place in all of us that we avoid. It's not necessarily the same place in all of us, but we all have it. That place is our comfort zone. In most cases all we have to do is commit to one thing that makes us uncomfortable to start moving to another level of life that we've never known. All we have to do is master a new skill or overcome one fear to become wealthy, healthy and wide open to new life possibilities. Let me ask you a question. What is it you're not facing? What is your fear? What is it you need to master? Do NOT let it master you.

3. Put a Pebble In Your Shoe
I don't mean walk around irritated all the time. No. Far from it. You should cultivate an inspiring attitude that welcomes people to you. You want to be very approachable. But that has nothing to do with the pebble in the shoe example. You may or may not decide to literally put a pebble in your shoe. But if you do, you'll create an awareness that will not let you forget - there's something in your shoe. You want to create that same kind of awareness that you must stay on top of your attitude, your life decisions, your relationships, your vision, your goals, and everything that will keep you living successfully.

The key, as mentioned before, is to not grow complacent. Successful living incorporates a lifestyle of thinking involving continual progress. If you are happy with where you are now, ask yourself this question: "What next?" Then create a plan that will move you to the next level.

Life will never be the same.

If you have experience working with kids, or are just an children lover, then starting a work at home baby sitting business may be right for you. baby sitters offer an important role to parents and help keep the one hundred and forty-five million babies in this country healthy and happy. As a baby sitter, you’ll offer a valuable service to busy parents who are on vacation or who need someone to take care of their babies during the day.

Getting started as a baby sitter is very simple. To begin with, you’ll need to decide if this really is a business that you want to pursue. First off, ask yourself if you really love kids? If you are considering baby sitting just because you think it will be an easy job, then it is not right for you. You must enjoy spending time with kids and have at least a little experience in being around them. While most baby sitting jobs involve young children, you may occasionally be asked to care for older kids or teenagers as well. Make sure you are comfortable with teens before accepting assignments involving them.

Start your business by becoming legal. Obtaining a business license doesn’t cost much and will give you a professional edge when getting new clients. You’ll also be able to take advantage of many tax write-offs, including your costs for mileage to and from your customer’s homes and any necessary business supplies.

Speaking of business supplies, all you’ll really need are business cards and an appointment book to keep track of your assignments. Unlike other work at home businesses, the start up necessities for baby sitting are relatively low.

Next, you’ll need to decide on what services you offer and how much you are going to charge. Play detective and find out the going rate for baby sitting services in your area. Try to stay in the same range. Offering lower prices may seem like a way to beat the competition, but it also makes your services appear less valuable to potential clients. You can print your rates on the back of your business cards, or make up a small flyer with prices listed on it.

Getting clients for your baby sitting business may be the most difficult part of running the business. However, with a little effort you can build a client list rather quickly. The best way to get clients and assignments is by word of mouth. Offer to baby sit for neighbors and friends to help build your reputation. Once you’ve done a good job for them, they’ll tell their friends and so on.

You can also use a few free and low cost advertising methods to get the word out about your business. You can distribute your cards at local baby shops, or post a flyer on their bulletin boards. Ask your local pediatrician if they would put some of your business cards on their reception desk, or recommend you to other parents. A small ad in your local paper can really help get the ball rolling for your business.

Once you have clients calling you for baby sitting appointments, make sure to keep them by treating them with great customer service. Always arrive on time and prepared to watch their babies. Respect their home and their property. If they enjoy your service, they’ll be more likely to call you in the future.
